Ashampoo WinOptimizer is a powerful 'tuning' tool for getting the best Windows system performance by means of removing files and registry entries that are no longer necessary, programs and small applications that are loaded at the system startup that are not necessary (at least at this startup loading), etc.
The application always ask the user what to do with the found elements so those aren't directly erased by the program itself.
The possible actions to take are presented in 'modules' for different functions: clean up system, optimize performance, privacy and security, tune system settings, diagnosis and information, and file tools.
Cleanup system includes drive cleaner for removing unnecessary files, delete history, etc. for obtaining a better drive performance. All the deletions are sent to the Windows Recycle bin, for restoring the ones that user doesn't want to delete. It also includes a good Windows registry cleaner.
Optimize performance offers the means to defragment the disc units, scan the autostart process, and manage the applications perfomance.
Privacy and security includes the complete deleted files wiping, the deleted files restoring (where possible), tweak the system, files encryption and viceversa, and a spam and popup bocker.
Tune system settings offers the system optimization, Internet tuner, etc. The Internet tuner includes a display for browser plug-ins so the user can select only the ones to work with.
The diagnosis module takes care of analyzing the disc drives and getting the system total information.
File tols, with a file splitter and joiner, an encrypter and decrypter, and password manager, as well as the means for saving the icon settings on the desktop. |
I have v5.03 and find it an excellent and beautifully presented program. It gets the job done
now - without any problems. Highly recommended. The one-click cleaner is very quick and smart.
